Growth Factors

Background
For centuries, milk and milk-derived products have been an essential part of our daily diet. Milk not only provides nutrition to newborn babies, but also a wide variety of active ingredients that protect against microbial pathogens and promote the development of the immune system. These active ingredients include growth factors such as TGF-β (1 and 2) and IGF (1 and 2).

Product
Through its extensive research program, Advitech can now use the health-benefiting properties of milk-derived growth factors to develop products with specific and proven applications for targeted health disorders.

XP-828L is a patent-pending composition of growth factors, comprised mainly of TGF-β and IGF, obtained from whey using a combination of physical and chemical processes.

TGF-β is a multi-functional regulator of cell functions and a powerful modulator of the immune system making TGF-β useful in treating impaired wound healing, mucositis, and autoimmune diseases1.

IGF has insulin-like effects in adipose tissue and skeletal muscles and may therefore be useful in the treatment of insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome with or without diabetes, and growth-related health disorders2. Also, IGF has been known to play an important role in multiple sclerosis3 and degenerative diseases4.
