Efficacy

The Transforming Growth Factor - beta (TGF-β) is one of the active principles in Dermylex and acts as an immunomodulator. Unlike immunosuppressors or anti-inflammatory products used in the pharmaceutical industry, TGF-β helps regulate the immune system response, promoting a balanced state in  acute inflammatory conditions that characterize psoriasis. It could thus contribute to restore balance in the epidermic cell-division cycle. This presumed process could explain why Dermylex effects are most widely observed during the second month of use, as shown below.

Figure 1: Relative improvements of study endpoints from baseline (day 1) for Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI). Solid bars (?) represent the distribution of patient scores under XP-828L or placebo (?), and error bars represent extreme observations.

Figure 2: Improvements of DLQI scores following 56 days of treatment with XP-828L (?) compared to placebo (?). Q1-2; Symptoms and Feelings, Q3-4; Daily activities, Q5-6; Leisure, Q7; Work and school, Q8-9; Personal relationships, Q10; Treatment. *P < 0.05 vs placebo. Values are expressed as means ± SD.

Figure 3: Survey conducted on consumers using Dermylex® shows that the use of Dermylex® as an adjunct treatment of topical medication (corticosteroids and vitamin-D derivatives) may create a synergistic effect and improve overall PASI and itching.
