Loss of the integrity of large portions of the skin as a result of injury may lead to major disability or even death. In man and domestic animals, scarring in the skin after trauma, surgery, bun or sports injury is a major medical problem, often resulting in adverse aesthetics, loss of function, restriction of tissue movement and/or growth and adverse physiological effects.

Colostrum represents an important source growth factors. Colostrum is the early milk produced by mammals during the first several days post-parturition. Colostrum provides passive immunity to protect the newborn from opportunistic infections while the immune system is developing, as well as to facilitate the growth and immune maturation of the digestive tract and most certainly other tissues
